Ground Beef Stroganoff

Supposedly the recipe "Stroganoff" got its name from a well known family in Russia, the Stroganov family. This recipe has been changed up over the years but still very tasty.

Ground Beef Stroganoff
Recipe by Christine Lamb @ Christine's Pantry - 2017

Ingredients:
4 oz egg noodles
1 pound ground beef
salt and pepper
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 - 10 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
8 oz sliced mushrooms
1 cup sour cream
1 ladle pasta water
1 green onion, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and carefully reserve 1 ladle pasta water. Return pasta back to pot. 

Add meat in skillet over medium heat, season with salt, pepper and worcestershire sauce. Breaking meat up as it cooks. Add onions and add a pinch of salt, stirring and cook until meat no longer pink and onions are tender. Stir in garlic and cook additional 1 minute. Add cream of mushroom soup, pasta water and mushrooms, stirring and cook 8 to 10 minutes. Just before serving stir in sour cream. Serve atop noodles. Garnish with green onions.
